Vietnam claims historic first win at AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup 2025
VOV.VN - Vietnam secured its first-ever victory at the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup 2025 in Pattaya, Thailand, with a hard-fought 4-2 win over 2006 champions Bahrain in Group D on March 23.

The opening set ended goalless, but Vietnam broke the deadlock in the second. Bahrain responded in the third set with a well-executed strike from Samoul to level the score. Shortly after, Phan Dat restored Vietnam’s lead, only for Samoul to equalize again just two minutes later, forcing the match into extra time.
In the decisive period, Vietnam displayed composure and skill, netting two more goals to seal a memorable 4-2 victory.
With this win, Vietnam now stands a strong chance of advancing to the quarter-finals if they defeat Malaysia in their final Group D match.
The tournament features 16 teams split into four groups, competing in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stage, while the top three teams overall will secure a spot at the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
