Vietnam chess players score big wins at Olympiad
VOV.VN -Vietnamese chess team had a wonderful day again on October 1 as they beat their Canadian and Jordanian strong rivals at the seventh round of the ongoing 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia.

Holding the white pawn, grandmaster Le Quang Liem (Elo 2715) beat Eric Hansen (Elo 2629) after only 34 moves.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son (Elo 2620) and Tran Tuan Minh (2491) gained victories over Razvan Preotu (Elo 2513) and Nikolay Noritsyn (Elo 2482) after 60 and 33 moves, respectively.

The most impressive victory belonged to 16-year-old chess player Nguyen Anh Khoi (Elo 2463) as he defeated 52-year old Canadian rival Evgeny Bareev (Elo 2666).
After seven rounds, the male team temporarily stands at 19th place. They will meet Kazakhstan, who ranks 37th position, in the next round.
The Vietnam female team won Jordan 3-1 in the seventh round. Vo Thi Kim Phung and Pham Le Thao Nguyen secured their wins while Hoang Thi Bao Tram and Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong held a draw with their opponents.

The team is now ranking 17th position with 5 wins and 2 losses. They will face the Cuban team (22th place) in the eighth round.
