Thuy Linh to face Thai rival Intanon at world badminton championship
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s top women’s singles player Nguyen Thuy Linh is set to face off against former World No.1 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the first round of the 2025 World Badminton Championships in France.

The tournament draw was announced by the organisers, revealing that Thuy Linh will meet Intanon, currently ranked 10th in the world and Thailand’s second-ranked female player. Intanon previously won the women’s singles title at the 2013 World Championships.
It will certainly be a big challenge for Thuy Linh as Intanon was the champion of the 2013 BWF World Championships.
Fellow Vietnamese shuttler Vu Thi Trang will compete against Yevheniia Kantemyr of Ukraine, ranked 127th globally.
Both Thuy Linh and Thi Trang are the only Vietnamese representatives in the women's singles.
In the men’s singles, the draw will see Le Duc Phat meet Julien Carraggi of Belgium in the first match.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Hai Dang will compete against Alwi Farhan of Indonesia who previously won a gold medal in the men's team at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) in 2023.
In addition, Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh will compete in the men's doubles and their opponents in the first match will be players from Brazil.
This year’s World Championships will run from August 25 to 31, with the Badminton World Federation granting tournament spots based on world rankings.
