Thuy Linh set for Indonesia badminton event with US$750,000 prize pool

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh has arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, to prepare for the Indonesia Badminton Mixed Nations Team Championship XL (BDMNTN-XL) 2025 team tournament, scheduled to run from October 2 to 5 with a unique format and attractive prize money.

The tournament, now in its second edition following a successful debut in 2024, marks Linh’s first appearance for Team Lightning. Her teammates include Viktor Axelsen (Denmark, two-time Olympic gold medalist), former world No. 1 men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian and Nur Izzudin (Indonesia), Yuta Watanabe (Japan, two-time Olympic bronze medalist), Shevon Lai (Malaysia), Tse Ying Suet (Hong Kong), and Rutaparna Panda (India).

The competition features four teams-Blitzers, Hurricanes, Lightning, and Rockets- competing in a format of two singles matches and two three-on-three matches, each lasting eight minutes. This fast-paced format demands strategic flexibility and places great importance on the role of the team captain.

BDMNTN-XL 2025 offers a total prize pool of US$750,000, with the champions taking home US$350,000, drawing strong participation from top players. The event is designed to be both a high-level sporting contest and a unique entertainment spectacle for fans.

Ten days earlier, Nguyen Thuy Linh withdrew from the first round of the women’s singles at the China Masters due to a right leg injury. She has since recovered in time to compete in Jakarta, ahead of upcoming international tournaments where she will aim to collect world ranking points.
