Thuy Linh continues impressive rise in BWF World Rankings
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh has reached a new milestone in her career, breaking into the top 18 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) women’s singles rankings, her highest ranking to date.

According to the BWF’s most recent update, Thuy Linh climbed two spots, from 20th to 18th in the world, despite not competing in any international tournaments over the past two weeks.
She skipped both the Japan Open 2025 last week and the ongoing China Open 2025. However, a drop in ranking points by her close rivals - Denmark’s Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt and Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan - allowed the Vietnamese shutter to move ahead as they slipped to 19th and 20th, respectively.
With a current total of 49,550 points, Thuy Linh is now only 2,684 points behind India’s Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, who sits in 15th place. The 27-year-old shuttler is well-positioned to aim for a new personal best in the coming months.
BWF statistics show that over the past 52 weeks, Thuy Linh has participated in 17 international tournaments. Her top 10 point-earning events include Canada Open 2025, Malaysia Masters 2025, German Open, Indonesia Masters 2025, Malaysia Open 2025, Hylo Open 2024, Denmark Open 2024, China Open 2024, Vietnam Open 2024, and Paris 2024 Olympics.
By skipping the China Open 2025, she stands to lose the 5,400 points she earned at the same event last year.
Following her runner-up performance at the Canada Open 2025, Thuy Linh has returned to training in Bac Ninh alongside fellow national team members Vu Thi Trang, Nguyen Hai Dang, and Le Duc Phat. They are preparing for the 2025 BWF World Championships, which will be held in France from August 25 to 31. A deep run in the tournament could propel Thuy Linh into the top 15 in the world, marking another breakthrough in her rising career.
