Three Vietnamese grandmasters earn spots at 2025 FIDE World Cup

VOV.VN - Three Vietnamese grandmasters will compete in the FIDE World Cup 2025 after securing berths through recent international performances, the Vietnam Chess Federation has confirmed.

At the 2024 Chess Olympiad, Vietnam placed 23rd overall, earning the country two slots at the prestigious global tournament. Based on their performances at the Olympiad, the national coaching board selected Pham Le Thao Nguyen and Le Tuan Minh for the event.

In addition, Le Quang Liem, currently ranked among the world’s top 20, will also represent Vietnam at the FIDE World Cup 2025.

The FIDE Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Batumi, Georgia, from July 5 to 29, while the men’s edition will be held in India from October 31 to November 27.
