Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon sees nearly 2,500 int’l runners
The Standard Chartered Hanoi Heritage Marathon 2025, slated for November 8-9, sees the participation of around 2,500 runners from 70 countries, nearly doubling the number of the 2024 edition.
The growth highlights the expanding scale of the race, now recognised as the largest marathon in Vietnam in terms of international participation. It underscores the event's strong appeal and the increasing global profile of marathons in Vietnam.
The event preparations are underway, with an Expo opening on November 7 and running throughout the three days. The Expo features numerous major brands, particularly those related to sports, health and holistic wellness. A variety of activities and valuable promotions will be available at the booths, promising an exciting weekend for runners, guests and their families.
With the theme "Together, we run further," the race, sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank, aims to elevate Vietnamese marathons and create opportunities for local runners to compete on an international stage. The prize system is valued at over VND1 billion (US$38,000).
The race comprises the 5km event for adults and 2.1km event for kids on November 8, and the 42km, 21km, and 10km distances on November 9.
Bach Mai Hospital continues as the medical partner for the Heritage Race, marking its second year in this role. The organisers have set up 21 medical stations along the race route, staffed by 80 doctors and nurses trained in emergency field care.
Notably, the Standard Chartered Hanoi Heritage Marathon 2025 is the first race in Vietnam to partner with the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund to implement a "Tobacco-free outdoor space" initiative. The message of a "Smoke-free race" will be promoted throughout the entire race route, through volunteers, the participants themselves, and LED screens in major cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. This is an important step toward raising public awareness, reducing the burden of disease, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
