VOV.VN - By the end of May 15, Vietnam retains top place in the medal table of the ongoing SEA Games 31 with 65 golds, leaving behind Thailand in second place with only 24 golds.

Vietnamese Track-and-Field athletes brought home seven golds while Wushu martial artists and DanceSport dancers took five golds each.

Notably, Nguyen Thi Oanh broke her own record she set three years in the Philippines in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase. A day earlier, she also defended her SEA Games champion title in the women's 1,500m run.

Swimmer Hung Nguyen finished first in the men’s 400m medley with a time of 4 minutes 18 seconds 10, breaking the record (4 minutes 20 seconds 65) he set himself three years ago in the Philippines.

For the first time Vietnam has won a gold medal in Duathlon (10km run - 40km cycling - 5km run) when Pham Tien San finished the race after 1 hour 55 minutes 58 seconds.

Vietnam also overwhelmed Thailand 3-0 in eSport, and this is the first time Vietnam has bagged a gold medal in this sport at SEA Games.

Vietnamese bodybuilders got five gold medals after three competition days, including two golds clinched on May 15, surpassing their set target of winning four golds.
