SEA Games 31: Six gold medals for Vietnamese wrestlers on May 17
VOV.VN - Vietnamese wrestlers dominated six weight categories ranging from 60 to 130kg at Gia Lam Competition House on the outskirts of Hanoi on May 17 afternoon.
All the six wrestlers grabbed the gold medals in classical Greco-Roman style.
Wrestling is one of the sports that are expected to bring more golds for Vietnam at SEA Games 31.
According to expert Ta Dinh Duc, who is in charge of the Vietnamese wrestling team, Vietnamese wrestlers had not participated in international tournaments for the past two years due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that significantly affected their professionalism.
However, the wrestlers were all in good form and ready for SEA Games competitions.
At SEA Games 31, Vietnamese wrestlers have registered to compete in all 18 weight categories for both men and women, and they have set a target of topping the medal tally.
As of 6pm on May 17, Vietnamese athletes have bagged 93 gold medals, retaining top place in the medal table, leaving behind Thailand in second place with 36 golds.
