Puerto Rico’s contestant wins Mr. Sports title
VOV.VN - Danny Mejía Romero, the contestant representing Puerto Rico, was announced as the winner of the Mr. Sports title after the Strong Vietnam Vung Tau marathon 2024 closed in Vung Tau city on November 17.
The event is one of the sub-contests of the Mr. World male pageant which is currently taking place in Vung Tau city, drawing the participation of more than 60 contestants worldwide.
This comes after he entered the Top 5 of the talent competition and came second in the Head to Head challenge competition. With good results, Danny Mejía Romero became the first contestant to advance to the Top 20 finalists of the Mr. World male pageant.
Others to feature in the Top 5 of the Mr. Sports sub-contest were Kirk Bondad of the Philippines, Bruno Barbieriro of Italy, Manuel Alcantara Turner of England, and Vincent Gobuamang of Botswana.
The event co-organised by the Vietnam Athletics Federation, the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation, the Vung Tau City People's Committee, and Sen Vang Company was held at Triangle Park and Vung Tau Revolutionary Traditional House from November 16 to November 17.
Accordingly, Mr. World contestants joined marathon runners from 30 local clubs to compete in four categories, namely the five km, 10km, 21km, and 42.195km.
Mr. World is one of three major global male pageants which is organised by the Miss World Organization.
The annual contest was first held back in 1996 and it returns this year after a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jack Heslewood, the reigning Mr. World, will hand over the title to his successor during the final night of the 2024 edition which is due to be held on November 23.
