Only 20 players fit for national team ahead of Japan fixture

VOV.VN - The Vietnam national football team only has 20 players fit enough to travel to Japan on the evening of March 25 as the side prepares for the upcoming clash against the host team, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has said.

This injury crisis will give Korean head coach Park Hang-seo another headache due to the shortage of players for the upcoming match.

After the latest match played against Oman, two versatile players, Tien Linh and Van Xuan, will be absent for the Japan game due to injuries.

Several players also contracted COVID-19 and were forced to enter quarantine. They will definitely miss the clash against Japan which is scheduled to take place on March 29 at the Saitama Stadium.

However, the national team will see the return of talented goalkeeper Dang Van Lam who will meet the national squad in Japan. Lam, who currently plays for Japanese side Cerezo Osaka FC, previously suffered a shoulder injury.
