Omani teams invited to play friendly matches in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has invited Oman’s national U19 and U21 teams to play friendly matches against Vietnamese sides as part of plan to develop youth football in the future.

Tran Quoc Tuan, acting president of the VFF, conveyed his invitation to Mohsin Al-Masroori, vice president of the Oman Football Association (OFA), during their meeting in Hanoi on March 24.

Tuan shared knowledge about the training programmes of both athletes and coaches, as well as plans for youth teams to reach goals in regional and international tournaments.

Meanwhile, the OFA leader expressed a strong desire to learn more about the VFF's plans to develop football moving forward.

He highly appreciated Vietnamese football achievements in recent years, particularly after the national side have showed strong performances in the Asian arena.

Al-Masroori took a tour of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre.

In another development, Vietnam will take on Oman at Hanoi’s My Dinh National Stadium at 7 p.m. on March 24 as part of their World Cup qualifying round.

This will be the final home match of the Vietnamese national team in the third round of Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

In their away match, the team coached by Park Hang-seo lost to Oman 3-1. In the current FIFA rankings, Oman rank 79th, 19 places above Vietnam.
