This is the highest coaching qualification in global shooting, granted only to those who pass rigorous assessments or have athletes who win medals at the Olympics or world championships.
Nguyen Thi Nhung has made significant contributions to Vietnamese shooting since her days as an athlete. She later remained deeply committed to the sport, serving as Head of the Shooting Department at the General Department of Sports and Physical Training while also leading the national team as head coach. She also held the position of Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Shooting Federation.
Under her leadership, Vietnamese shooters achieved remarkable success, from regional tournaments to the global stage. Most notably, at the Rio 2016 Olympics, she and expert Park Chung-gun of the Republic of Korea coached Hoang Xuan Vinh to a historic achievement with one gold medal, one silver medal, and an Olympic record. This remains Vietnam’s greatest sporting accomplishment in nearly 79 years at the time.
Despite her retirement, Nguyen Thi Nhung’s contributions continue to be recognized by the ISSF. The A-level coaching certificate is a well-deserved honor, acknowledging her relentless dedication to the sport.
With this recognition, Nguyen Thi Nhung has becomes the first Vietnamese shooting coach to earn the ISSF’s highest coaching certification, placing her among the ranks of world-class coaches.
