Nearly 500 boat racers compete on Han River in Da Nang
VOV.VN - Nearly 500 boat racers from Da Nang city and central Quang Nam province took part in the 2025 Open Traditional Boat Race on the Han River in Da Nang on March 30.
The event was organized by the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the city's liberation.
A total of 17 men's teams and 5 women's teams from Da Nang and various localities in Quang Nam, such as Cam Thanh (Hoi An), Dai Lanh (Dai Loc), Tam Tien (Nui Thanh), and Dien Phong (Dien Ban), competed in two categories: 7.5 km for men and 4.5 km for women.
Beyond being a sports competition, the traditional boat race serves as an opportunity to honor the cultural heritage of Da Nang and Quang Nam, drawing large crowds of locals and tourists along both banks of the Han River.
Nguyen Van Nam, a racer from Quang Nam province, shared, "This expanded tournament gathers many teams from across the country, including both professional clubs and traditional teams. For us, it's not just about the competition but also about showing the spirit of our hometown, strengthening sportsmanship, and bonds through a shared passion."
Binh Dinh to host professional powerboat world championship
