Nearly 40 nations compete at ITF World Juniors 14U 2026 in Lam Dong
VOV.VN - Nearly 150 players from close to 40 countries are competing at the ITF World Juniors Competition 14U 2026- AO Pre-Qualifying Event, which opened in Lam Dong province, Vietnam’s Central Highlands on March 2 and runs through March 14.
The tournament is jointly organized by the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) and NovaSports at the province’s international tennis complex. It is part of the global junior competition system of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and serves as a regional qualifying event toward the Australian Open Junior Series.
Regarded as an important stepping stone, the event offers U14 players opportunities to compete internationally and gain ranking points, with the aim of earning places at junior Grand Slam tournaments in the future.
This year’s edition is one of the largest junior tennis events in the Asia-Pacific region for the U14 age group. The first week (March 2-7) features the girls’ team competition with 18 teams and 72 players, including host Vietnam alongside strong contenders such as Pakistan, Singapore, the Philippines and Myanmar. The boys’ team event follows from March 9-14, bringing together 20 teams and 80 players.
According to the draw, Vietnam’s girls’ team, seeded No. 1, is placed in Group A with Maldives and Macau and is expected to make use of home advantage to progress deep into the tournament.
Nguyen Hong Son, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Tennis Federation, said hosting the event provides young Vietnamese players with opportunities to compete internationally on home courts and reflects progress in junior tennis within the country’s broader international integration strategy.
