National futsal team prepare for four friendlies during April FIFA Days

VOV.VN - Diego Giustozzi, the Argentinian coach of the Vietnamese futsal team, has called up 20 players for their first training camp of the year in preparation for international tournaments, including four friendly matches during FIFA Days this April.

Golden Ball Award winner Nguyen Thinh Phat, Silver Ball Award holder Nguyen Manh Dung, Bronze Ball Award receiver Pham Van Tu, and former world top 10 goalkeeper Ho Van Y are among some of the outstanding players to join the first gathering in Ho Chi Minh City from March 17 to April 16.

Along with the return of Nguyen Minh Tri after injuries and Vu Duc Tung in good form at the national championship, coach Giustozzi has also given opportunities to four new players - An Lam Toi, Tran Quang Nguyen, Trinh Cong Dai, and Do Van Thanh.

Vietnam are scheduled to play two friendly matches against Saudi Arabia on April 8 and 10, along with two more friendlies against Kazakhstan on April 13 and 15.

These fixtures are expected to help sharpen the skills of the Vietnamese players as they will face strong rivals, particularly Kazakhstan who stunned Portugal 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024.

This year will see Vietnam take part in two important tournaments, including the Asian Futsal Championship 2026 qualifiers in September and the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) in December.
