Nam, Thien move up in Vietnam F3 Futures

Duo Ly Hoang Nam and Nguyen Hoang Thien advanced to the quarter-final round of the Vietnam F3 Men’s Futures tennis tournament on August 8 in Binh Duong Province.

The Vietnamese pair won 6-4, 6-0 over Daniel Kossek and Maciej Smola, a wildcard duo from Poland.

Their next rival will be the winner of the match between No 1 Takuto Niki and Arata Onozawa of Japan and Jacob Grills and Jonathan Kanar, a mix of Australia and France.

Another host pair, Huynh Minh Huy and Trinh Linh Giang, will meet Hong Seong-chan and Li Zhao-tai.

Nam, Vietnam’s top-ranked player, will launch his campaign in the singles event today against No 5 seed Chung Yunseong of the Republic of Korea.

Nam has reached a new point in his career, jumping nine steps to world No 862, the highest ranking for him and Vietnam.

Thiên will play No 4 Huang Liang-chi of Taipei.

Artem Vu will meet Shane Vinsant of the US.
