Mu Cang Chai gears up for Ultra Trail International Marathon 2025
VOV.VN - The “Mucangchai Ultra Trail” International Marathon 2025, part of the “Golden Season Festival,” will be held from October 3 to 4 in Mu Cang Chai commune, northern Lao Cai province.

The event is expected to attract thousands of athletes and visitors from both Vietnam and abroad, competing in four categories: 100 km, 50 km, 25 km, and 15 km, accommodating a wide range of participants.
This year’s race route will pass through the world-famous terraced rice fields and traditional villages of the Hmong and Thai ethnic groups, offering both an endurance challenge and an immersive experience of the region’s natural landscapes and culture.
Organisers are finalising preparations, including surveying routes, installing clear signage, and setting up refreshment points. Medical teams, police, militia, self-defence forces, and youth unions will ensure the safety of athletes and visitors.
The marathon also provides a platform for local artisans, producers, and cooperatives to feature the region’s ethnic traditions, culture, and highland specialties to both domestic and international audiences.
Beyond sports, the event will promote healthy lifestyles, community engagement, and environmental awareness, encouraging participants to minimise plastic waste, collect trash along the route, and plant commemorative trees at start and finish areas.
Experiential tours will also be available, allowing visitors to try on traditional Hmong costumes, explore Mo De village’s corn house and bamboo forest, visit the “lonely rock” in Kim Noi village, and enjoy the commune’s rich culture and pristine natural scenery.
