Local player claims silver medal at regional table tennis tournament

VOV.VN - Vietnamese table tennis player Nguyen Anh Tu won a silver medal at the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships on June 28 in Thailand.

In the final match of the men’s singles, Anh Tu led the first two sets 11-7 and 11-9 against Chew Zheyu Clarence of Singapore.

Despite racing into the lead, the player failed to maintain his domination in the following two sets, with the fourth set seeing both sides level at 2-2.

The two players competed hard against each other in the fifth and sixth sets, with the Singaporean player showing a strong performance by beating Anh Tu with a final score of 4-2.

As a result, SEA Games 31 champion Anh Tu secured a silver medal, with this being the only medal won by the Vietnamese team at the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships.

The regional tournament was held in Thailand from June 21 to June 28, with the nation sending a team of five male and five female athletes to the event.
