Local jujitsu fighters to compete for world titles in Thailand

VOV.VN - Vietnam has sent its best athletes to compete at the Thailand Open Grand Prix 2023 from May 20 to May 21 ahead of international tournaments being held this year.

This is the first global tournament that local jujitsu fighters have competed in after the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) in Cambodia.

Nguyen Thi Minh Vuong and Dang Thuy Van competed in the women’s 57kg category along with 13 other strong rivals from Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Jordan, and Thailand.

Hoang Thi Nhat Que took part in the women’s 63kg category and faced competitors from China, Thailand, the UAE, and Indonesia.

At SEA Games 32 the Vietnamese jujitsu team won one gold, two silver, and nine bronze medals.

Their participation at the Thailand Open Grand Prix 2023 aims to prepare for the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Mongolia and the Hangzhou Asian Games in China moving forward.
