Local cueist qualifies for WPA world 10-ball championship’s Round of 16
VOV.VN - Local cueist Duong Quoc Hoang enjoyed victory over Japanese rival Toru Kurabayashi to progress to the Round of 16 at the ongoing Predator WPA world 10-ball championship.
Hoang beat Toru Kurabayashi 2-1 after the first three rounds on the morning of March 3 (Vietnam time). However, the Japanese player went through the next six rounds without making any mistakes and got back into the match with a score of 7-2.
In the final part of the game, Hoang made use of every chance to turn the tables and win with a final score of 8-7, with the latest victory marking the first time he has advanced to the Round of 16 at the tournament.
Hoang, who is ranked at 62nd in the world, will win at least US$2,000 for advancing to the next stage of the competition.
His opponent in the Round of 16 is Fedor Gorst of Russia who is ranked at 27th place in the world. The match is scheduled to take place at 2:00 a.m. on March 3 (Vietnam time).
