Liem wins silver medal at World Masters Championship
VOV.VN -Vietnamese super grandmaster Le Quang Liem picked up a silver medal during the rapid chess event of the World Masters Championship, which concluded on May 16 in Hengshui, China.

The Vietnamese player was awarded prize money of US$12,600 whilst Anton Korobov, the winner of rapid event, received nearly US$20,200 in prize money.
The 16 players will continue to compete in the Blitz chess event, which is set to take place between May 17 and May 18.
The Vietnamese super grandmaster is seeded number nine with an Elo rating in blitz chess of 2699.
In this year’s tournament, the World Masters Championship drew more than 200 athletes from 49 countries.
They will compete across five sporting events, including chess, xiangqi, go, draughts, and bridge with 17 disciplines in total.
Liem is the only Vietnamese chess player who has been invited to compete at the championships.
