International kitesurfing festival opens in Ninh Thuan
VOV.VN - The international kitesurfing festival kicked off on December 22 in Ninh Hai district of the southern central coastal province of Ninh Thuan.
The event features a total of 70 kitesurfers from 15 countries across the world, such as Italy, the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Singapore.
Tran Minh Thai, chairman of Ninh Hai District People's Committee, said the international kitesurfing tournament is being help with the ultimate aim of developing the sport in Vietnam and attracting more domestic and foreign visitors.
The festival is part of an international kitesurfing week which involves a wide range of activities, including a boat race, a women's beach volleyball tournament, a golf competition, a running race, a food festival, and a street carnival.
Home to a coastline stretching over 105km, beautiful beaches, a diverse marine ecosystem, and warm weather all year round, the south-central province of Ninh Thuan boasts plenty of advantages to develop its marine tourism industry to attract more visitors.
The locality is widely considered to be a paradise for kitesurfing. Indeed, the province has been chosen as the venue for borh domestic and international kitesurfing competitions such as the 2016 Kiteboard Tour Asia and Ninh Chu Kiteboarding Festival 2019, events which drew the participation of hundreds of international athletes from Russia, the Republic of Korea, Australia, the UK, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
