Huynh Nhu takes part in first training session in Portugal

VOV.VN - Vietnamese striker Huynh Nhu participated in her first training session alongside her teammates at Länk FC immediately after arriving in Portugal on August 23.

The Tra Vinh-born footballer spent time getting to know her new team before undergoing various medical check-ups and signing a two-year contract with the Portuguese side.

Moving forward, it is likely that she will not be able to play for the country at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) or the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup because these tournaments are not listed as part of FIFA’s official competition system.

Länk FC is a successful team playing in the Campeonato Nacional de Futebol Feminino, the top tier of Portuguese football. The women’s football tournament is scheduled to begin on September 10 and will feature the participation of 12 teams.

Nhu is one of the most prominent players in Vietnamese women's football. She is most notable for winning the Golden Ball award on four occasions and has also made several important contributions to the Vietnamese women's team, winning gold medals at the SEA Games in 2017, 2019, and 2022, along with the AFF Cup 2019 championship.

Furthermore, she is also the top scorer in the history of the Vietnamese women's football team with 59 goals for the national side.

The upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup marks the first time that the Vietnamese national women’s football team, including captain Huynh Nhu, have progressed to the finals of the prestigious international tournament.
