Football brings Vietnamese community in Russia closer
VOV.VN - After nearly a month of competition, the final match of the 2025 Veterans Football Tournament in Moscow took place on June 7 at the Bratislava Park Stadium in the Russian capital, between FC Phuong Dong and FC Anh Em Moskva. After two halves of play, FC Anh Em Moskva claimed a 4-0 victory to win the championship.

The closing ceremony was attended by Vu Son Viet, Counsellor and Deputy Head of the Community Affairs Committee of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia; Nguyen Hai Dang, Deputy Secretary of the Vietnamese Party Committee in Russia; Do Xuan Hoang, President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Russia; Tran Phu Thuan, Standing Vice President of the Union and Head of the organizing board ; along with representatives of hometown and professional associations and a large number of Vietnamese nationals.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vu Son Viet praised the quality of the tournament and the spirit of the players, noting that despite their age, the athletes competed with great enthusiasm and helped inspire younger generations in the community. He congratulated the organizers on a successful event and encouraged making it an annual tradition to reinforce solidarity and enrich the spiritual life of Vietnamese people in Russia.
Do Xuan Hoang affirmed that the tradition of "as the old bamboo dies, the young shoots grow" remains strong in the local sports movement. Thanks to the efforts of earlier generations, the movement has continued to expand in both scale and quality. On behalf of the Union, he thanked the organizing committee, players and fans for contributing to a meaningful and successful tournament.
On the afternoon of June 6, the final match and closing ceremony of the Vietnamese Football Tournament at Sadovod took place at the Sadovod Trade Center, the largest wholesale market in Europe where more than 10,000 Vietnamese people run businesses. FC Thanh Nien Moskva defeated FC Hai Phong Moskva 6-2 to successfully defend their championship title.
At the closing ceremony, Alexey Negashev, Head of the Sadovod Market Management Board, expressed his appreciation for the event's organization and the sportsmanship of participating teams. He noted that after four seasons, the tournament has achieved a high level of quality and attracted not only the Vietnamese community but also Russian spectators. He praised the unity and dynamism of the Vietnamese community at Sadovod and pledged continued support for meaningful sporting events that enhance community spirit.
Both tournaments were held to mark the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025), while also providing a healthy sports platform to strengthen bonds within the Vietnamese community in Russia.
