First gold medal for Vietnam at Asian Junior Bowling Championships

VOV.VN - Nguyen Tan Dat has brought home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese team at the 24th Asian Junior Bowling Championships which is taking place in Qatar.

Dat on July 28 snatched the Boy's Singles gold medal, topping the leaderboard with 1,376 points. Walaphut Andrew Wong from Thailand secured the silver medal, while Wan Muhammad Zarif Mazlan of Malaysia earned bronze.

 “We are really happy and surprised as a player has won the first gold medal at the 2025 Asian Junior Bowling Championships. This shows the great effort of the athlete as well as the honour of Vietnamese bowling on the continental playground,” shared Bui Kim Ha, leader of the Vietnamese youth bowling team at the tournament.

The 24th Asian Junior Bowling Championships began on July 25 and will last through to August 2.

This year’s tournament has drawn 79 male and 20 female athletes from countries and regions including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, China, Hong Kong (China), Chinese Taipei, Bahrain, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, and Qatar. Competitors are participating in singles, doubles, and team categories, divided by age groups.

Prior to the competition, the Vietnamese team had set modest goals of achieving their best possible results.
