First ASEAN sport festival held in Netherlands
The first sport festival of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the Netherlands opened in the capital city of Amsterdam on July 1, drawing hundreds of students from ASEAN member countries.
The event was organised by students associations of Vietnam and other ASEAN countries in the Netherlands, under the sponsorship of ASEAN embassies in the country.
Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngo Thi Hoa said as one of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN, the sport festival hopes to bolster connectivity and people-to-people exchange among ASEAN member nations.
The festival comprises mini football, badminton, running competitions and a combined event. Vietnamese traditional dishes were also served during the event.
