FIFA imposes three-registration-period ban on Cong An Ha Noi FC
VOV.VN - Vietnamese champions Cong An Ha Noi FC have been placed under a FIFA registration ban, preventing the club from registering new players for three consecutive registration periods from September 15, 2026.
If the ban is in place, the 2025/26 V.League champions will be unable to register new players during the mid-season 2026/27, summer 2027 and mid-season 2027/28 registration periods.
FIFA’s registration-ban list provides details of clubs currently prohibited from registering new players under sanctions imposed by the governing body. The list is regularly updated and is intended to provide transparency for member associations, confederations, clubs, players and agents. It is updated every six hours.
FIFA has not publicly disclosed the specific reason for Cong An Ha Noi’s registration ban. The sanction could be lifted if the club fulfils the requirements for its removal or serves the ban in full. FIFA regulations state that clubs subject to a registration ban cannot register new players, either nationally or internationally, for the duration of the measure.
The V.League has seen similar cases in the past. Thanh Hoa FC were placed under a FIFA registration ban in 2026 but subsequently had the sanction lifted after resolving the issue behind the ban.
In the latest transfer window, Cong An Ha Noi FC signed eight new players for their 2026/27 campaign across four competitions. Notable arrivals include Iraqi player Frans Putros, who featured at the 2026 World Cup, and former Spain U17 player Damia Sabater.
As defending V.League champions, coach Alexandre Polking's side are also the only Vietnamese club competing in the AFC Champions League Elite and the V.League representative involved in the most competitions this season.
Last season, Cong An Ha Noi FC also received an international sanction when the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) awarded Tampines Rovers a 3-0 win in the first leg of their AFC Champions League Two round-of-16 tie after the Vietnamese side fielded a suspended player.
