Chinese midfielder suspended for U23 Asian Cup semifinal against Vietnam
VOV.VN - Vietnam U23 will face China U23 in the AFC U23 Asian Cup semifinal without midfielder Yang Haoyu, who is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards earlier in the tournament.
Yang, who wears No.14, will miss the match under competition regulations. While single yellow cards are cleared before the semifinals, players who have received two bookings must serve a one-match ban.
Born in 2006, Yang has already made more than 20 appearances in the Chinese Super League for Shanghai Shenhua, scoring three goals. At this year’s tournament, he has mainly featured as a substitute but has been involved in every match, highlighting his role in head coach Antonio Puche’s tactical setup.
His absence is expected to force the Spanish coach to make adjustments for the semifinal against Vietnam U23.
The semifinal between Vietnam U23 and China U23 is scheduled to kick off at 10:30 p.m. on January 20.
