Bich Phuong finishes runner-up at Malaysia International Series 2025

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s badminton player Bui Bich Phuong fell short of the women’s singles title at the 2025 International Series in Malaysia after losing to Kim Seong Min of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the final on September 14.

It was the first time Phuong had reached the final of an official international tournament, and she was also the only Vietnamese athlete to do so at this year’s event.

In the match, Phuong lost the opening game 18-21, bounced back to claim the second 21-15, but was defeated 14-21 in the decider, finishing runner-up overall.

Elsewhere, young player Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen exited in the first round of the women’s singles qualifiers. Four Vietnamese male shuttlers also competed in men’s singles but were all eliminated by the second round. In mixed doubles, Pham Van Truong and Bui Bich Phuong advanced to the quarterfinals before bowing out to strong RoK opponents.
