Belgian golf tournament raises funds for Vietnamese AO/Dioxin victims

A friendly golf tournament entitled “Vietnam Ambassador’s Cup 2020” was co-hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium and Luxembourg, the Delegation of Vietnam to the EU, and One to One Consult SA NV in Belgium on September 14.

More than 50 golfers, including local officials, ambassadors, and diplomats from ASEAN member states, businesspeople from Belgian and EU companies, and Vietnamese living in Belgium gathered together at the Hulencourt Golf Club in Brabant Wallon for the tournament.

It aimed to expand and strengthen diplomatic relations and trade and investment between Vietnam and Belgium as well as the EU at large. All funds raised at the tournament will go to the support centre for Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin victims in Hoi An ancient town in central Quang Nam province.

Wijingaard Gael, a local golfer from Wallonie Golf Club, championed the tournament.

Speaking at the club, Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Anh Quang said the Vietnam Ambassador’s Cup 2020 forms part of international efforts to ease the pain of those suffering from AO/Dioxin and other consequences of war in Vietnam.
