ASIAD 2018: Pencak silat earns bronze for Vietnam

Vietnam got one bronze medal in pencak silat on August 26, the sixth day into the ongoing 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD 2018) in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Pencak silat athlete Pham Tuan Anh obtained the medal for his performance in the men’s under 70 kg event.

With the medal, Vietnam was ranked 18th in the medal tally with one gold, seven silver, and nine bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Tran Thi Them, a golden hope of the Vietnamese pencak silat team, beat her Singaporean rival 4:1 in the women’s under 55 kg event, winning a ticket to the final round.

The same day, runner Quach Thi Lan came second in the qualification round of the 400 m hurdles event with 55.74 seconds. Lan is now qualified for the final round scheduled for August 27.
