Anh Vien wins four golds at Oceanman Maldives 2026, ties top male swimmer
VOV.VN - Former top Vietnamese swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien won four gold medals at the Oceanman Maldives 2026 open-water swimming event, finishing at the same time as the top male athlete.
The two-day competition took place on April 10–11. On the opening day, the former SEA Games champion won three gold medals in the 2km race, the women’s relay and the women’s 30-39 age group.
On the second day, Anh Vien took on a greater challenge in the 10km race. It marked her first time competing in a 10km open-water event. She finished first with a time of 2 hours 30 minutes 22 seconds.
Notably, she crossed the finish line at the same time as the top male athlete. Summing up her performance, the swimmer, who has won 25 SEA Games gold medals for Vietnam, said with a laugh: “Swimming 10km in the Maldives is easy, I can show you how.”
After retiring from elite competition in 2021, Anh Vien has focused on coaching and social activities. Recently, the 30-year-old has also begun competing in triathlon (swimming, cycling and running).
Oceanman is an international open-water swimming series held across regions including Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. The 2026 Maldives event attracted 532 athletes from 40 countries and territories.
