During the “Repayment in Kind” programme, they decorated the cemeteries, burnt incense, lit candles and offered flowers.
Since the “Paying Debt of Gratitude” programme began on July 6th, they have also presented gifts to the families of 31 war martyrs and invalids in the city’s Cu Chi district, Bien Hoa city, Long An province and Binh Duong province.
The Unions also built 10 “gratitude” houses and provided free health checks and treatment to families of war martyrs and invalids in Ben Tre province’s Mo Cay district and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union will launch a programme entitled “Young People Pay a Debt of Gratitude” next Sunday. It will be held at the Cemetery for Vietnam and Laos Friendship Martyrs in the central province of Nghe An, where over 10,000 Vietnamese martyrs, specialists and volunteers who died in Laos during the wars against the French and Americans lie at rest.
More “gratitude” activities
In Quang Tri province, a ceremony for the fallen soldiers and a concert called “War Memories and a Desire for Piece” will be held on July 24-26.
To celebrate the days 62nd anniversary, the commander of the Quyet Thang Corp and the provincial Party committee handed over 10 “gratitude” houses to heroic mothers, war martyrs, invalids and Agent Orange/dioxin victims from seven districts.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen van Duoc, Deputy Minister of National Defence, visited and presented gifts to the disabled in a hospice for people with disabilities in Bac Giang province.
