World Oceans Day, Vietnam Sea and Island Week celebrated

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on June 4 launched a wide range of activities in response to World Oceans Day, World Environment Day, and Vietnam Sea and Island Week.

Addressing the ceremony held in Nghe An province, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh noted that Vietnam is viewed as one of the countries that are most vulnerable to climate change, suffering from the negative impacts of global warming along with environmental pollution and sea level rises.

He highlighted Vietnam’s consistent policy on sustainable and comprehensive development of seas and islands, as well as marine resources, and called all stakeholders to take practical actions to solve the problem of plastic waste pollution, contributing more to environmental protection.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, the participants collected garbage and planted trees at a fishing village in Nghi Thuy ward of Cua Lo town.

In addition, they presented gifts to 25 poor and elderly members of the community, and gave boxes of medicine to 10 fishermen in Nghe An province.
