Present at the ceremony were Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, who is also president of the committee.
The Vietnam Kovalevskaia Prize Committee, which was named after outstanding Russian mathematician and scientist Sophia Kovalevskaia, was set up in 1985 to recognise scientific research by Vietnamese women.
Over the past 25 years, the committee has achieved significant progress and presented prizes to 34 individuals and 15 groups of the best women scientists who together undertook hundreds of research projects in the natural and applied sciences. The results of their work have been applied in many fields, bringing benefits to the society and the nation.
In addition to research and applied sciences, the women scientists whole-heartedly help their young co-workers. They are also successful leaders and managers. From their research some run businesses and have become successful businesswomen, making a made significant contribution to the society.
