Webinar promotes ICT collaboration with India amid COVID-19

VOV.VN - The Indian Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications recently co-hosted a webinar on information and communications technology (ICT) cooperation between India and Vietnam amid the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of his address at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung highlighted the webinar as an important and timely event amid an array of increasingly complicated developments linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. Indeed, the impact of the virus has led to many nations facing a severe recession.

He therefore expressed his confidence that both nations will be able to put forth many ideas, share their various experiences, and conduct exchanges with each other in ICT to give exert greater efforts in ICT development and application.

As part of its National Digital Transformation Strategy, Vietnam is striving to raise the share of the digital economy in terms of national GDP to 20% by 2025 and roughly 30% by 2030.

According to Indian Ambassador Pranay Verma, ICT will play an important role in the post-pandemic economic recovery of both countries.

Both India and Vietnam hold highly ambitious visions in terms of developing their respective ICT sectors, especially during Industry 4.0. Therefore, this represents the right time for them to seek greater opportunities to improve the ICT capacity for broader co-operation, he added.

During the course of the webinar, Indian and Vietnamese experts shared their opinions, advantages, and opportunities of the two countries in this area. Both sides also paid special attention to digital transformation in the nation and technological solutions on the COVID-19 fight, cyber security, and 5G technology.
