WB grants US$338 mln for rural areas in 2012

A World Bank-funded project has poured US$338 million into Vietnam’s rural areas this year.

The third Rural Finance Project has been underway in Vietnam since 2008, with an initial investment of US$200 million.

It aims to provide loans for rural areas to boost economic development and reduce poverty rate.

So far, 92,000 loans have been given to rural people to implement sub-projects in animal husbandry, farming, seafood processing and handicrafts.
