The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) Central Committee has decided to donate US$112,500 to help poor people and Agent Orange victims celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet), which will fall in mid-February.

Twenty five provinces will receive US$1,875 million each and the 39 remaining cities and provinces, US$1,600 each.

The donation was an annual activity of the VRC entitled "Tet for the Poor and Agent Orange Victims".

The VRC will send six delegations to offer gifts, each worth more than US$18, to poor families and families of Agent Orange victims and those hit by natural disasters across the country.

According to the VRC, this year's sum is expected to six folds higher than last year’s figure and the number of localities receiving the aid will double.
