VOV youths join blood donation campaign in Hanoi

VOV.VN - Youth volunteers from the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and other agencies in Hanoi participated in a blood donation campaign on March 20, aiming to help resolve the scarcity of blood supplies in hospitals.

The event is one of the activities celebrating 87 years since the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union was established (March 26).

Many young people from across the capital city attend the event.

Addressing the event, Pham Duy Hung, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the VOV Party Committee, said the blood drive is significant as it makes a great contribution to addressing the scarcity of blood and raises awareness among local people of the importance of blood donation for humanitarian purposes.

Young volunteers register to donate blood from the early hours of the morning.

Their health is checked before they are allowed to donate.

Tong Thi Hong from the Ministry of Public Security said this is the second time she has given blood and she felt happy that her blood will help to save patients.

Phi Hung Linh from the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) said blood donation is a noble gesture, showing compassion and tolerance and the activity is a way to show his responsibility to the community.

Pham Hoa from VOV said this was her first time donating blood, she felt nervous but was eager and happy to do so, saying she would continue to register for the next blood donation event.
