VOV, Indonesian Radio ink cooperation agreement

(VOV) -Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) signed an agreement on January 13 to increase information and cultural exchange.

Signatories were VOV Director General Nguyen Dang Tien and RRI President Rosarita Niken Widiastuti who is leading a delegation to visit VOV.

Mr Tien briefed his guests on all forms of VOV’s media – radio, TV, online and print. VOV’s channel 5 (VOV5) broadcasts 12 foreign languages, including Indonesian.

The radio plans to launch a TV programme on the National Assembly (NA)’s activities in 2014, he added.

The VOV leader highlighted fruitful cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia across various fields over the past decades.

The two national radios have collaborated effectively on information and cultural works, including a broadcasting project on ASEAN action.


The Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam also provided sponsorship for VOV reporters to study Indonesian language and cover international events hosted by Indonesia, Tien said.

He expressed his belief that VOV-RRI cooperation will help strengthen bilateral friendship and deepen mutual understanding, as well making contributions to the development of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

RRI President Widiastuti emphasised that similarities between her radio station and VOV result n their closer links. Both broadcasters will have more exchange programmes on culture, education and entertainment, she said.

The RRI leader also revealed future plans to build a Vietnamese language programme.

Indonesian Ambassador Mayerfas reaffirmed the strategic significance of the VOV-RRI cooperation agreement and pledged his best efforts ensure implementation of the agreement for mutual benefit.

Earlier the same day, VOV Deputy Director General Vu Hai held a meeting with Rosarita Niken Widiastuti and her RRI delegation.
