From now until 2020, Hanoi will need an additional 500 ha of land to build houses for workers at a total cost of VND12 trillion.

The total number of workers in Hanoi will increase by 600,000 by 2015 and by 640,000 by 2020, meaning that over 1 million will need permanent housing.

To address this demand, the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, Phi Thai Binh, has asked the relevant State management agencies to adopt incentive policies for construction companies.

He also requested that the management boards in Hanoi’s industrial parks and export processing zones introduce regular inspections to ensure the housing is up to standard and the project is completed on schedule.
