Vinh Phuc police detain wanted Chinese national
VOV.VN - Police operating in the northern province of Vinh Phuc have arrested a Chinese national put on a wanted list by the anti-smuggling department of Guangzhou city in Guangdong province of China.
Police stated that the 47-year-old man, Chen Jian Fu, was wanted by Chinese police for the charge of smuggling endangered animals.
The Chinese citizen subsequently fled his home country and illegally entered Vietnam through the China-Vietnam border near the Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son province with the support of accomplices.
Following this, police forces on October 23 discovered Chen Jian Fu and four other people travelled from Bac Ninh province to Vinh Phuc province to purchase Sua wood, or dalbergia tonkinensis, which has been listed as an endangered species in Vietnam.
Vietnamese police then arrested the five and launched an investigation into the case.
