VinFuture Prize opens nominations for 2026 season

VOV.VN - The VinFuture Prize has opened nominations for its 2026 season, calling for scientific and technological innovations with broad social impact, with submissions accepted until April 17, 2026, according to the organising board.

Eligible inventions and scientific-technological solutions must demonstrate benefits for millions of people and be nominated by reputable organisations and individuals in the field of science and technology worldwide.

Nominated projects will be screened and selected by the VinFuture Prize’s Pre-Screening Committee and Prize Council, which comprise leading scientists and experts, including recipients of prestigious awards such as the Nobel, Turing and Millennium Technology prizes.

The judging process is expected to be completed in September 2026, while the sixth VinFuture award ceremony is scheduled for early December 2026. Nominations submitted after April 17, 2026 will be automatically transferred for consideration in the 2027 season.

To provide updates and engage more closely with its international partners, the VinFuture Foundation will host two online workshops in the first quarter of 2026, featuring speakers from the Pre-Screening Committee, Prize Council and VinFuture laureates. The first workshop will take place at 8:00 a.m. on January 26.

At the same time, VinFuture will continue its Top Nominators Recognition programme for scientists who have made important contributions to identifying and nominating innovations and technological solutions with a positive impact on humanity for the 2025 VinFuture Prize.

After five consecutive successful seasons, the VinFuture Prize has built a global presence within the science and technology community, receiving a total of 6,132 nominations from nearly 110 countries and territories, and honouring 48 scientists for achievements with profound and long-lasting impacts on humanity.

Many of the innovations recognised by VinFuture are closely associated with major milestones in human progress, ranging from global internet networking technologies, PERC solar cells, lithium-ion battery energy storage and artificial intelligence, to key sectors such as sustainable agriculture, healthcare and the environment. The VinFuture network of international partners has also expanded to nearly 15,000 scientists worldwide.

Dr. Le Thai Ha, Managing Director of the VinFuture Foundation, said that after five years of development, VinFuture has gradually affirmed its standing as one of the world’s leading science prizes, honouring outstanding scientific achievements alongside social responsibility and long-term benefits for humanity.

She added that as the award enters its 2026 season, the foundation expects nominations to continue underscoring science and technology as central to addressing global challenges in a comprehensive manner, helping advance solutions with wide applicability and sustainable global impact.

With its growing international stature and credibility, the VinFuture Prize has helped position Vietnam as a venue for global knowledge exchange and scientific collaboration. Many VinFuture partners have visited the country to take part in academic exchanges, share professional expertise and strengthen ties with the domestic scientific community.

Through the VinFuture network, Vietnamese scientists have also gained greater access to leading global researchers, enabling them to engage more actively with the international scientific community in shaping a sustainable future for Vietnam and humanity.
