Heads and deputy heads of schools affiliated to the Ho Chi Minh City National University and other universities in the south are gathering in HCM City for a training course on tertiary school management.

The 12-day course, jointly organised by the HCMC National University and the US Loyola Chicago University, opened on October 12.

During two days in HCM City, Vietnamese participants will discuss issues related to Vietnam’s universities and identify weaknesses in tertiary management in the Southeast Asian nation in order to come up with effective management models from elsewhere in the world.

They will spend 10 days in the US to learn management models that US universities have applied successfully in terms of strategy, finance, quality-control and personnel management.

Speaking at the opening, Director of the HCM National University Phan Thanh Binh stressed that the course aims to help university heads uncover problems in management and find solutions to build training programmes on tertiary management for universities nationwide.
