VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai, authorised by the President, posthumously bestowed a Friendship Order on late Polish architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski, in recognition of his contributions to the preservation of Vietnam’s cultural and historical heritage sites.
At a ceremony organised on November 19 by the Vietnamese Embassy in Poland and the authorities of Poland’s Lubelskie Province, Professor Bartłomiej Kwiatkowski received the prestigious decoration on behalf of his late father.
In his address, Ambassador Hai conveyed his deep emotions and acknowledged the immense contributions of architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski to preserving Vietnam’s historical sites in Hoi An ancient town, the My Son Sanctuary and the former imperial capital of Hue.
He noted that these efforts helped promote the sites' inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, thereby strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Poland.
According to Ha, late architect Kwiatkowski, known to many Vietnamese as “Kazik,” left an “invaluable legacy” to the country.
To this day, he stressed, Vietnamese people continue to remember him with admiration and affection, cherishing the hope that his memory will live on in the hearts of both Vietnamese and Polish people.
Earlier, the Vietnamese Ambassador laid flowers at the grave dedicated to late architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski at the municipal cemetery in Lublin.
