Vietnamese welcome Lunar New Year
VOV.VN - Vietnamese people are celebrating Tet or the traditional Lunar New Year Festival which begins on January 28 with art performances at public places on the New Year’s Eve.
“I wish everybody good health, happiness, and success in your work. I hope Vietnam’s economy will prosper and people enjoy a wealthy life," a local dweller shares his wishes in the lunar New Year.
Major cities such as Danang, Hue, Nha Trang, and Hoi An celebrated New Year’s Eve with extravaganza galas. The Dragon bridge in Da Nang breathes fire and water to welcome the New Year.
Hoi An town in Quang Nam province organized a display of lanterns and parallel sentences and folk games.
On New Year’s Eve, the Youth Union of Thua Thien Hue province and philanthropists gave gifts to child patients at Hue Hospital and the staff of the Hue Urban Constructions and Environment Company. Secretary of the Hue provincial Youth Union, Tran Gia Cong said, “We want to share the burden with the poor workers and patients. We hope that the gifts could bring them a happier Tet”, Secretary of the Hue provincial Youth Union, Tran Gia Cong said.
Nha Trang city in Khanh Hoa province organized a gala to welcome the New Year 2017 while thousands of people gathered in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, to join festive activities to welcome the New Year.
