Two Vietnamese workers surviving from a steel frame collapse in the Republic of Korea ’s Uijeongbu city are in stable condition after receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

 
The accident, which occurred at a light rail transit construction site in the city, killed five workers, including two Vietnamese, on the evening of July 25.

Police said the accident took place when they were launching a 30-metre long and six-metre wide girder connecting the bridge deck, fell down. Workers on the deck were buried under debris.

The Vietnamese embassy and the Vietnamese Labour Management Board in the RoK are coordinating with relevant agencies of the host country to assist the victims.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Construction of the 750 billion KRW light rail system began in July 2007 and is planned to be finished by August 2011.
