Lenka Pham, a 19-year-old Vietnamese-Czech student, has won the 14th literature contest for unpublished books in the Czech Republic, according to Czech News Agency CTK.
Lenka Pham, known as Pham Thi Lan in Vietnamese, is the child of a Vietnamese native now living in the Czech Republic. Lenka received the prize for her novel White Horse and Golden Dragon, which portrays racial discrimination against the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.
The 19-year-old is not only the first writer of non-Czech origin, but also the youngest ever to win the prize. The young writer has been awarded 50,000 Koruna, equal to VND50 million, and assistance in the publication of her book.
