Vietnamese seeking out home comforts for Tet abroad

VOV.VN - Like all of the Vietnamese living at home, the overseas Vietnamese community in the US are eagerly preparing for their home country’s biggest festival, the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet).

Some families gather to wrap Chung cakes while many other Vietnamese are busy buying all of the essentials for Tet as they visit shopping centres or supermarkets.

All of the materials for Chung cakes can be found in the US, such as sticky rice, green beans, dong or banana leaves, and pork.



People look through a rack of traditional long dress (Ao Dai) to wear during Tet.

Brushwork calligraphy of kind and hopeful greetings for the new year will be offered to people on Tet.

Most of the goods needed for Tet that can be found in supermarkets and shopping centres are imported from Vietnam.

A variety of Tet jams and sweets are on sale.
